A few days ago Jared got a cold sore/fever blister on his lip. Today I woke up with that bothersome tickle on the corner of my mouth. By breakfast I had a cold sore on the right side of my mouth. By lunch I had another one on the upper left side of my lip.
I hate hate hate cold sores.
Everyone in my family gets them.
And now thanks to kissing my children without thinking about it, my children get them.
Here is what I just read about cold sores on webmd.com
"The herpes simplex virus that causes cold sores cannot be cured. After you get infected, the virus stays in your body for the rest of your life. If you get cold sores often, treatment can reduce the number of cold sores you get and how severe they are."
That's a terrible thing to know about yourself.
If I don't want to hang out with you for two weeks and if I don't show up at church for a Sunday or more, it is because I have what should really be called "Herpes Face". Seriously why do we bother with the niceties of "cold sore", "fever blister"? Sure I did nothing lewd or wrong to catch "Herpes Face", but innocent as I may be, I still have "Herpes Face". I think I'd rather have, fat-face, or pizza-face, or moon-face, or but-her-face, than Herpes Face.
7 sign your pity:
ugh, I hate them. same sitch as you always had them and now my kids do too, so sad.
recently started using valtrex for outbreaks and it works like a charm if you start it right when you feel one coming on. the cold sores are smaller and go away quicker and the outbreaks are less. tmi? i think not.
I have to make an appointment with a doctor for valtrex don't I? But I bet it is worth it.
I would laugh at you two, but it sounds like a good idea.
Jake wants me to let you know he has NEVER IN HIS LIFE had a cold sore or whatever people call them - my reply to him - you lucky SOB!
Hey Sarah;
I highly recommend putting Tea Tree Oil directly on the festering blister. Then as it starts to dry out put Vitamin E to prevent scaring.
The sooner you start the fast it will be gone. I try to start with the tea tree the minute I get the tingle.
Also they can be brought on by stress so I also recommend taking some deep breaths and try not to stress about it. :-)
I don't know if you'd have to make an appointment you might be able to call and ask for it. I didn't make an appointment but that might be because the docs on base get to fly with Joe and Joe told the doc I needed a prescription. It's nice for things like that but kind of awkward when I need a female exam.
tmi? maybe.
We call it "popping a herp" when Alma gets a cold sore. So glad my immune system seems capable of fending that off.
